40% OFF SAFEPAINT FOR WALLS!
SafePaint is changing its name! From December it will be called Farmhouse Finishes, so to make way we are offering 40% off during November to clear current stocks!
SafePaint is a milk paint formulated for use on walls. Our original formula was created for porous surfaces like wood and masonry. SafePaint was formulated for use on non-porous surfaces such as previously painted walls, prior finished wood, metal etc.
Safepaint still has the flat finish, but is much more uniform and consistent over a large area than the original formula. It is also washable once cured, anti-bacterial and naturally mould resistant. Like original milk paint, SafePaint is made from elements that pre-date the use of petrochemicals and other toxic bases and solvents, it is biodegradable, non-toxic, and odor-free when dry. SafePaint is preferred by those who are chemically sensitive and those sensitive to the need to protect the environment.
New Colours, New Packaging!
From December we will be introducing our twelve new colours to both the Old Fashioned Milk Paint and Farmhouse Finishes ranges.
These beautiful new shade, and the 20 originals, will all be available in new, resealable bags in the original formula. Now you don't have to decant it into plastic boxes or glass jars to keep it fresh, you can just reseal it and it will keep indefinitely.
Don't worry, we have kept the lovely kraft bag look!
Our Farmhouse Finishes Safepaint will still come in the foil bags but now inside kraft boxes.
We hope you will love the new look and new colours as much as we do!
Welcome to Old Fashioned Milk Paint UK
Old Fashioned Milk Paint is the faithful recreation of an ancient homemade paint formula, containing just milk protein (casein), lime and natural earth or mineral pigments, making it environmentally friendly, non-toxic, VOC-free, baby-safe, food-safe & biodegradable.
Beloved of woodworkers, furniture restorers, interior designers, artists and upcyclers, it is used as an authentic period finish in the restoration or reproduction of furniture or other wood projects, to achieve vintage colour in a flat, chalky finish, quite unlike any other paint.
Milk paint arrives in powder form to be mixed with water. When applied to a porous surface such as wood, driftwood or plaster, milk paint provides a breathable coating that will never chip or peel. With Extra Bond Agent you can use Milk Paint on non-porous surfaces too, such as previously painted or varnished furniture. Without the Extra Bond, Milk Paint will resist some pre-finished or pre-painted surfaces to achieve an authentically distressed or “chippy” look.
The Original Milk Paint ~ 20 Historic Colours
Old Fashioned Milk Paint comes in twenty historic base colours (with 12 more being added in December!), but many more can be easily achieved, by mixing the powder together or lightening with Snow White (see our Colour Pallet & Tinting Chart for some of the options).
Home-made Milk Paint was heavily used by settlers in North America, and has come to epitomise the character and style of Early American and Colonial furniture and buildings. The texture and deep, rich colours of Old Fashioned Milk Paint were recreated from pieces of furniture found in museums like Boston's Museum of Fine Arts, New York's Metropolitan Museum and restored Shaker villages such as Old Sturbridge, using only natural earth pigments such as ochre, umber and iron oxide.
Colour of the Month - Soldier Blue
Our November Colour of The Month is Soldier Blue.
This lovely mid-blue is a greyer shade than our Federal Blue, and is almost like a denim when painted on new wood.
Bring some seasonal colour inside and enjoy 10% Off throughout the month.
